It has been concluded by our Board that organ and tissue transplantation will be permissible according to the following conditions.

CAN ORGANS TRANSPLANTS BE PERFORMED IN ALL DEATHS?
Have you died on the road at home or in any unit of the hospital, can organs be used? Unfortunately, this is not possible under today's conditions. It can only be used in the case of brain death while connected to a life support machine in the intensive care unit of a hospital for the use of organs.

WHAT IS BRAIN DEATH?
When brain death is mentioned, it is mentioned that blood flow stops in all vessels leading to the brain and there is no oxygenation in the brain anymore. The brain has lost all its functions and can no longer be recycled. Since the brain cannot perform any function, after a while, other organs start to be damaged and cannot function.
The brain continues to beat for a while as the patients who develop brain death are connected to the breathing apparatus (ventilator) that pumps oxygen to the body in intensive care units and oxygen is given to the body through this device. In this way, other organs also maintain their vitality for a while. The heart has its own center that works independently of the brain. As long as oxygen is delivered to the heart tissue, an electrical stimulus emerges from this center and allows the heart to beat for a short time. However, despite all medical treatment and support, this condition persists for a few days and after a while the heart dies. It is not possible for cases diagnosed with brain death to return to life. There are no cases in the world that have been diagnosed with brain death and have come to life.
A person with brain death is considered medically and legally dead.

DETERMINATION AND FOLLOW-UP PROCESS OF RECEIVERS IN DONATED ORGANS
In case of organ donation, the conditions under which the organs will be transferred to which recipient are carried out by the National Organ and Tissue Transplantation Coordination System of the Ministry of Health in accordance with the laws, regulations and directives.
